Alice Hall was born in New York
City, daughter of John Mortimer Hall. She received her AB from Wellesley College,
Mass. in 1881 and her MD from Woman’s Medical College in Philadelphia
in 1886. She was an intern at New England Hospital Boston in 1886-87, and then
studied two years abroad at Vienna, Stockholm, Berlin, and Paris. She received
a certificate in Obstetrics from the University of Vienna in 1888.
She then
settled at Baltimore and became an Instructor in the Woman’s College, Baltimore
where she was Professor of Physiology and Hygiene Woman s College 1889-92. She
then became the attending Physician at the Home for Mothers and Infants from 1890-92.
She also founded and was in charge of Dispensary for Working Women and Girls in
South Baltimore from 1891-92.
In 1892, Dr. Hall-Chapman married and moved West to Eugene, Oregon. As of this writing [1899], she now resides at Woodland,
Washington.
