Jose M. Yosuico, MD

Dr. Jose “Joe” M. Yosuico, 84, of Columbia, passed away at his home on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012. He was born on Nov. 19, 1927, in the Philippines.

Dr. Yosuico was a graduate of the University of the Philippines, earning the Distinguished Alumnus Award before going on to complete his medical degree at the University’s Medical School, where he was honored with the Outstanding Alumnus award.

He practiced internal medicine at Church Home and Hospital for more than 40 years, ultimately serving as Chief of Staff. Much loved by his many patients, Dr. Yosuico maintained a busy, diverse practice and made house calls up until his retirement.

An active member of the Baltimore and Maryland medical community, Dr. Yosuico was president of Maryland Medical and Chirurgical Faculty (Med Chi) in 1992, and the Baltimore City Medical Society. He was also a delegate to the American Medical Association and commissioner for the Governor’s Commission on Minority Health. He loved traveling with his family and enjoyed hunting and caring for his tropical fish.
