Richard D. Bauer, 74, former medical director of Prince George's Hospital Center, died of cancer June 2, 1995 at his home in College Park.
Dr. Bauer was born in Philadelphia. He graduated from Haverford College and received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. He came to the Washington area after his residency and was in private family practice for 25 years. He joined the medical staff at Prince George's Hospital in 1949 and had served as its chief of staff. He became its medical director in 1975. Dr. Bauer retired in 1984 and since then had been working as a consultant at National Medical Advisory Services Inc. in Bethesda. He was a past president of the Maryland Medical and Chirurgical Faculty and was a member of the Prince George's County Medical Society.
Dr. Bauer served in the Army in the mid-1940s. He was the founder of the Adelphians, a community theater group, and a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in College Park.
