J. Morris Reese
was born and lived all of his life in Lutherville. In 1920, he received his
degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he went on to
become a professor.
He was known to
peers and patients as “Pappy” and he served as an Ob/Gyn at local hospitals
including Maryland General, University, GBMC and Bon Secours. He had a special
interest in the care of young children and their mothers. Among his life’s
objectives were better care for maternity cases and better opportunities for
underprivileged children.
Dr. Reese belonged to many organizations and was a founding fellow at the American Academy of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, past president of the Baltimore County Medical Association, past president of the Maryland Training School for Boys, and past president of the Medical & Chirurgical Faculty of Maryland in 1966.
He was an emeritus professor of Ob/Gyn at the University of Maryland and chair of the state medical society that incorporated the Blue Shield plan in Maryland.
