Robert W. Johnson was born at Rockland in Baltimore County, on September 8, 1854. He received his A.B. from Princeton College in 1876 and his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1879.
Dr. Johnson became the President of the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of Maryland from 1894 to 1895. Following that, he was a Professor of Surgery at the Baltimore Medical College; Medical Director of the First Brigade in the Maryland National Guard; a Consulting Surgeon at Church Home and Infirmary; a Surgeon at thr Maryland Steel Company; and the Medical Director at Baltimore's Mutual Life and Annuity Company. He kept an office at 101 West Franklin Street in Baltimore.
