John D. Blake was born in
Matthews County, Virginia on November 3, 1853. He received his MD from the
College of Physicians and Surgeons in Baltimore in 1875, and was a vaccine
physician in 1880-1881. He became the vice president of the Faculty in 1893 and
1894.
Additionally, Blake was the president of the Medical
& Surgical Society, a professor of Surgery at the Baltimore Medical College
and a member of the Baltimore City Council. He resided at 1014 West Lafayette
Avenue in Baltimore.
