Random Update to a 2016 Post

In 2016, I wrote about an AMA meeting held in Baltimore in 1895, and would take place in the "new" music hall. But it also said exhibits would be held in the "exhibition hall." Hmmmm.

First of all, what was the music hall? That answer was pretty simple, it was what they called what is now the Lyric Theatre. But the images they had of it didn't quite look like what is there now.

If you look closely toward the back of the building, you see the silhouette of the existing Lyric. You can also see the clock tower at Mount Royal Station. Apparently, the front part of it was never built, which is a shame!

But...

The Exhibition Hall??? What was that?

Did this building ever exist? Where was it? Well, the answers are yes, it did exist, and it was on the corner of Mount Royal and Maryland Avenues, where the University of Baltimore is now.

All of this is in light of something I saw on Facebook this morning on the "Old Baltimore Photos" page.

Here's a picture of the Lyric, which never got its addition, and the Exhibition Hall.

I drew up a little explanatory map, so you can get your bearings. We didn't build our HQ on Cathedral Street until 1909, but it was a wagon manufactory before that.

I love finding answers!
