George Milton
Linthicum was born on August 17, 1870, and was married on April 12, 1898 to Lillian Noyes Howland. He
attended St. John’s College in Annapolis. He became a prominent surgeon, and professor of physiology and proctology
at Baltimore Medical College from
1895-97. He was also coroner of Baltimore City for a time.
He was
vice-president of the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty
from 1908-09 and became president in 1909-10.
Prior to World War I, he was with National Guard
along the Mexican Border in 1916 where he achieved the rank of lieutenant-colonel.
During World War, from 1917-19, Dr. Linthicum was a member of the Medical
Corps, United States Army and
Commanding Officer at Base Hospital No. 113, at Savenay, France.
Dr. Linthicum was a member of the prominent Maryland family after which the town of Linthicum, Maryland is named. It is located just south of Baltimore, close to BWI Airport.
