Happy Thanksgiving

Marcia and the staff at MedChi hope that you have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

We understand that this year's celebration will not be like any other year's, but we hope you can make the best of it!

Can you spot Marcia celebrating amongst the Pilgrims?

Virtual Tour of Baltimore's Historic Hospitals

Please join me for a virtual tour of Baltimore's historic hospitals on Friday, December 4 at 1:00 p.m. (EST). In a joint program with the Baltimore Architecture Foundation, where I served as President for several years, I will be introducing some of the more unusual hospitals in Baltimore, as well as a few we all know.

Several years ago, I began charting what is essentially a family tree of hospitals that operated in Baltimore, which ones disappeared, which ones merged, and which still survive.

Digging deeply into MedChi's extensive archives, I will be sharing
historic engravings and photographs, portraits from our art collection, as well as contemporary images, and maybe a few stories.

For details on the virtual lecture, or to reserve tickets, please click here. The event is free, but contributions to the Baltimore Architecture Foundation are welcomed.

Please Remember to VOTE!

When Marcia began working for the Medical & Chirurgical Faculty of Maryland in 1896, women were, among many other things, not allowed to vote. That privilege did not come until 1920, just 100 years ago. The 1920 presidential election of Warren G. Harding was the first in which women could vote.

Given what I know of Marcia, who she was and what she did, I am certain that she exercised her right to vote in 1920. All of those men and women who fought for their right to vote did so because it is so incredibly important to a democracy.

Please vote on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, if you have not done so already.
